I can’t believe this is a debut or one of the first novels of this author. I keep thinking it must be the synonym of another author. I had a great weekend enjoying this book about Megan and Brandon. Megan is 24 and looking for an apartment. She finds it as the roommate of Josh and when she finds they have the same sort of background and interests she is actually hoping for a spark with him. However, he also has a very annoying older brother, Brandon Seaton, who is a quarterback in the NFL and thus her very opposite. But between their banter and changing insults something else seems to grow between them. I really enjoyed this story. We get the POV of both Megan and Brandon and that gave extra insight to their thoughts and feelings. Both have their insecurities and I thought it was quite realistic. I wish there was sometimes a bit more showing than telling but overall this book gave me a happy feeling.”

The author did a wonderful job of making a story that was light but not insubstantial. The characters had their issues to overcome, but they worked through them like kind, mature adults and didn’t devolve into unnecessary drama.The story was blessedly free of insta-love. Instead, the relationship grew steadily and naturally and included lots of fun banter and joking. I’m going to be chuckling at Science Barbie and Football Ken for quite a while! There was definitely chemistry between the couple, but their physical relationship was described fairly obliquely (I’d say PG-13ish). I wouldn’t blush suggesting this to my mom.”
