5 Popular Romance Novels to Read This Spring
Romance is the most popular genre in the Hidden Gems ARC program and our readers know that no two love stories are the same, so they devour new books every chance they get. Today we’ve rounded up five new releases that have been wildly popular with our readers. You’ll absolutely want to add these romance novels to your TBR list this spring.
Balls to the Wall by April Canavan
With over 150 Amazon reviews and a notable 4.5 star average rating, Balls to the Wall is the first book in the Birch Police Department series. If you love stories about second chances and coming clean, this is the romance novel for you.
“Within 5 minutes I had tears streaming down my face and a box of tissues, and it was not the only time I needed one,” writes Emily in her 5-star review. “This book was a roller-coaster of emotions. Yes I did blubber like a baby but I also laughed so much too. Not to mention wanting to throat punch some characters. This book is well worth the read.”
“Remy and Parker had a chemistry and a connection that you felt deep under your skin and one that radiated through the words of their story,” says Kylee in her 5-star review. “Their story had passion, depth and an intensity that took you by surprise. For all the tears I cried, I also smiled equally as much. As the story drew to a close and we were treated to an epilogue that will make you laugh till you cry and then have you swooning for a love that was written in the stars.”
Marked by Eva Winners
With nearly 100 Amazon reviews and an astounding 4.7 star average rating, Marked, book one in the Russian Sinners series is a standalone read. No cliffhangers, no cheating, and lots of steamy scenes. Please note that this is a mafia romance novel, and as such there is violence in the story, and potential triggers, so we recommend reading the description and reviews to determine if this is a good fit for you.
“If I could give more than 5 stars I totally would,” raves Nicole H. in her 5-star review. “Y’all this book blew me away. I was hooked from the very beginning. Eva completely SLAYED it! It had so many elements from kidnapping, to the Russian Mafia, freaking big bomb drops and a truly beautiful love story. Anastasia the FMC is a strong willed, witty and all around amazing character. And Dimitry is sexy as sin. These two come together and it’s an explosion of chemistry and fireworks. I seriously couldn’t get enough and I need book 2!!’
“I opened my kindle thinking it would be another mafia romance, but this was so much more,” writes Amy Reads Romance in her 5-star review. “Anastasia is not your typical princess, first impressions aside. She has a backbone of steel to have survived what she has. Dimitry is also not your average man. Determined to make his businesses legal and leave the bratva behind, he is at his core a good and decent man. Hunted by a mafia rival, she must learn to trust the only man who has made her feel fireworks, and the only man who can save her. Against the backdrop of Russia, these multi-dimensional characters came off the page. The author should know I don’t cry easily, but I cried reading this. This is a beautiful start to a new trilogy, and I am very much looking forward to the next book.”
Moments Like This by Anna Gomez and Kristoffer Polaha
With over 150 Amazon reviews, and an impressive average 4.7 star rating, book one in the From Kona with Love series depicts multicultural romance, love, loss, and redemption woven into a family saga set in the beautiful islands of Hawaii. Though connected, each installment can be read as a standalone romance novel.
“I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a very visual read for me,” writes Missy G. in her 5-star review. “I pictured everything that happened because the writing puts you there. You are sitting on a boulder at the beach or under the mistletoe on Christmas Eve in a coffee shop. I saw it all play out and that is unusual for me. This is a story of reinventing your life. Hasn’t everyone thought of doing that. Would you have the nerve? Would you have strength when needed? Forgiveness when needed? Beautifully written and, what’s unusual is, this being a co-written book… I couldn’t tell who wrote what. It was fluid and smooth.”
GIS writes in their 5-star review, “Highly enjoyable feel-good romance, with just enough heat to steam up the glasses a bit, but not enough to, say, set fire to the coffee table, or make your granny blush. The characters are well-rounded, with interesting backstories. The Hawaii descriptions are beautifully written, and the ‘Moments Tour’ was an excellent way to introduce this reader to a place that, in reality, seems impossibly out of reach. (The Chicago descriptions were spot on!) Most enjoyable for me was getting to see Andi and Warren’s budding romance from Warren’s perspective, which seems unusual in romance novels. Overall, definitely worth a read, especially if you happen to like family-friendly Hallmark-movie type romances. Seamless collaboration between Gomez and Polaha, and an excellent first foray into novels from Polaha. Last, but certainly not least, the cover art is gorgeous!”
Fallen Moon by Cate Cassidy
A new release with over 80 Amazon reviews and a notable 4.6 star average rating, Fallen Moon is book one of the Wolves of Thunder Cove Series and features a heroine that doesn’t have to choose. One woman and three protective shifters, medium burn romance. Each book follows the next in a continuation series and is not standalone.
Edna H. writes in her 5-star review, “This is the first book that I am reading from this author and was not at all disappointed. WOW!!! This book started with page 1 and didn’t let go and now it is making me want to get Book 2 but it doesn’t come out until June 2021. Oh the torture of it all. Sexy hot menwolves, mystical portals, special moon and the sexual tension between Ember and her 3 wolves (Alex, Cody & Grayson)…talk about fire. This is definitely one to have in your hot & sexy paranormal romance category in Kindle library because it has it all from reverse harem, paranormal stuff every which way you read, suspense and then some. Definitely keeping this one in my library for sure.”
“I really enjoyed reading Fallen Moon!” writes Bobbie S. in her 5-star review. “The main heroine, Ember, is a beautiful broken soul that I felt a connection with. Her life story, and how she dealt with the dreams and challenges that arise throughout the story feel so real and relatable. Not to mention the chemistry she shares with Cody, Alex and Grayson! Each of the hunky wolf shifters is totally different, but they share a bond that they use to protect their clan, and their woman! This book had plenty of drama and danger, and a healthy dose of steamy goodness! This story is well written, it really drew me in and I didn’t want to put it down! So yourself a favor and grab this in one up!”
My Favorite Mistake by R.L. Kenderson
With over 175 Amazon reviews, and an astounding average 4.7 star rating, My Favorite Mistake is a humorous contemporary romance novel sure to please anyone who loves a good friends-to-lovers story.
JK writes in their 5-star review, “I need to give this 10 stars! It was so good….best friends to lovers. I loved the back and forth between them and it was so freaking hot I think my kindle over-heated a few times (like at the bar on her birthday…whew). R.L are great writers who really draw you in and you can’t stop reading. I felt so bad for Griffin but I love how Blake pulled him out of bed and took him to that meeting (not going to ruin it)….a few tears fell. Loved this new book from them.”
“This book is a lifetime best friends to friends with benefits to lovers & friends story between great characters Griffin and Madeline,” writes JMucci in their 5-star review. “Very steamy sexual scenes. Wonderful love story that starts with young best friends, Griffin and Madeline. They grow up together and stay best friends all through school, including college and into adulthood. I believe that opposite genders can remain platonic. I have had a few that remain friends only, without benefits. I also believe that if that line is crossed into friends with benefits that going back to just best friends is never the same. Just when they are going strong as a couple, Griffin has a life changing event that spirals him down into the alcohol abyss. He breaks it off with Madeline and goes on a bender. A friend rescues him and helps him to recover. Just in time for Griff’s and Mad’s friends wedding. Will they be able to stay together or will too much damage have been already done?”
